Hi Guys,
I got a american standard 2014 tele with alder body and im playin it through vintage marshall jcm800 2204 (50watt).
playin mostly anything from pop rock to blues and classic hard rock
lookin for good noiseless bridge pickup
i narrowed it down to :

SD BG1400
SD lil Pearly gates for tele
SD lil 59
Dimarzio Chopper and dimarzio tone zone

cant decide between these i dont care for tele twang
sounds like robben ford, steve luakhter, larry carlton, lynyrd skynyrd, joe bonamassa lead sound preferred
and i need to be able to play some classic rock riffs like acdc zeppelin zztop

im gonna pair it with Pearly gates neck humbucker
standard 3 way switch and maybe coil split/tap for some funky sounds

lookin for your suggestions
thanks

The chopper t is a really cool pup. Works well with 250k and 500k pots. I liked it with 250k, didn't have enough treble though. I loved it with 500k pots. Had everything I wanted in a tiny bucker.

Re: Classic Rock Pickups For Tele

are you planning on using 500k pots? with a pgn, i would use 500k pots and if you have the coin, you wont get a better pup than a duncan custom shop pup. is your tele already routed for a neck bucker?

Re: Classic Rock Pickups For Tele

I had a PG for tele and it was a KILLER pup. If I had more than one tele I would have definitely kept it.

I had a jerry donahue in a tele that paired beautifully with the pearly gates neck fwiw.
I used 500k pots and an extra resistor for the single in the bridge.

I think the Little 59 is the one, It doesn't sound at all like a Tele, and has the power to push an amp or pedal. It is perfect for the sound you are after.

well honestly i don know yet i wanna test with stock 250k pots first and if it wasnt workin as i want then i change to 500k pots. and yes it has routing for neck humbucker and also middle single (am std)!!! and im not sure with neck humbucker really yet ill get the bridge and if the neck(twisted tele) worked with the bridge maybe ill keep it since it has awesome tone.
im really lookin into PG but theres not enuf info on net or even good miced youtube reviews. but then it has real alnico instead of ceramic and its custom shop it really worth spending more i think

how was it comparing to lil 59 ppl complain about lil 59 muddiness on EAD strings and not able to get clean when rollin down volume
does it sound like a good real humbucker such as hb pg or jazz or gibson hbs?

thanks.

Re: Classic Rock Pickups For Tele

no single coil sized humbucker will sound like a full size humbucker, they dont "hear" enough of the string. they can still sound great.

Re: Classic Rock Pickups For Tele

I would recommend the DMZ tone zone T, can sound like almost a full sized alnico bucker but can still sound like a tele, I have mine wired with series/split/parallel, treble bleed and 500k vol and tone. You can use the vol control and the 3 way mini toggle to get big fat humbucker to tele twang easily with excellent clarity and no mud in any setting.
