Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Hello everyone. At the beginning I would like to mention that I'm completely newbie in topic of pickups.

I just installed new set of SD Classic Stack Plus STK-S4s according with wiring diagram attached. As it founded out pickups still humming in position 1,3 and 5 once volume of clean/distortion channel is cranked up. Of course there are less noisy than original ones Fender Fat50's but still noise is audible.

Is it normal behaviour in case of noisless pickups.
Thanks in advance in yours support.

Sorry for my English. It's not fluent one :)

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

This sounds to me like they are not using the bottom coil of each pickup to cancel out the hum. I have STK-S4s and they are dead quiet. If you can attach some pics, we might be able to see what's up.

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Does the sound go away or increase when you touch the bridge or other metal parts on your guitar?

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Somethings wrong for sure like others are saying. My STK 4’s are DEAD silent. No him or buzz

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

I just realized that black and drain cable are soldered to three different points on volume pot not to one like wiring diagram says. Does it make big difference?

As long as they are going to somewhere on the back of the pot, and all the pots are connected, you are good.

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Yeah maybe you're splitting the stax somehow and they're cancelling hum in 2,4 but not 1,3,5.

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Red wires are not grounding. Tapped off as wiring diagram suggests. I found some information about missed resistor on the bottom of pickup in R1 place. In my case there is no resistors on the bottom of pickups. Maybe solution is to solder proper resistor which is part of hum-cancelig system?

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

they dont always need a resistor. if you are getting humcancelling in 2&4 then it sounds like they are running coil split

It means they should have soldered red wire?
Checked my audio samples?

Are you confident your bridge is grounded. The picture makes it look like the shielding is chipped right where you anchored the screw? Have you tested continuity? If the buzz gets louder when you touch metal I suspect the bridge isn't fully grounded.

I checked that and when I touch the bridge buzz is not gets louder. I would say its same.

Re: Classic Stack Plus set still noisy.

Just take it to someone who knows what they’re doing. I’ve had to do that twice now and swallow my pride - screwed up an amp and didn’t get a re-wire right. Had to take it to someone who knows what they’re doing
