Just purchased a Classic Stack Plus middle pickup and wired it to a push/pull switch to split the coils as per the diagram that came with it. I'm happy with the overall tone but can't say that I find much difference in tone, switch up or switch down. I've gone back and checked the wiring and it matches the diagram. First question, am I expecting too much? I'm thinking of making it an in phase/out of phase switch which I have done with other Humbuckers. Second question, is there a place to find a diagram that labels the pickup wires or an in phase/out of phase for this pickup?

That's kind of the idea, the Stack Plus is close enough in Stack mode you have no need to split. The split is made available to get slightly better quack out of positions 2/4 and to give hum cancelling if you combine with a split humbucker.

I feel like I knew at one point but... Are they louder split, as many stacks tend to be? Never bothered splitting my Stack Plus.

I didn't notice the modern version being louder split. The hum-cancelling coil is tiny, and doesn't so much contribute to the overall sound as it cancels hum. BTW, the Classic Stacks are my favorite Strat pickups, of any type.
