classic stacks

anybody try classic stacks with an A3 mag? I like the sound of the Eric Johnson pickups with A3 mags and I wonder how A3 mag classic stacks would sound in a neck and middle pickup

Re: classic stacks

You'd have to get it specially made with A3 magnets, so if there are any out in the wild, there wouldn't be many, and the chances of those people being on the forum would be smaller still. If you decide to go to the Custom Shop and order these, report back on what you have.

Re: classic stacks

Thinking on doing it. I like the sound of A3 mags in a single coil. I was hoping even stacked it would sound fairly close to a regular single with an A3. I was gonna throw in a paper and oil tone cap .047 to brighten up the neck and leave the middle out of the tone circuit so it's just open to volume only. The bridge I was gonna have a IM1 with a paper and oil tone cap of .022. Still hoping to get a decent position 2 quack between the bridge IM1 and the stacked but open A3 mag middle and just use a 500 pot. Hoping it all works out anyway.

I am sure the Custom Shop can help you when you consult with them. I'd love to hear how this project turns out!
