Clean channel ? on JCM600 combo

Just repaired a JCM600 and notice the volume level on the clean from front panel switch is very low in level. When switching to overdrive level has plenty of volune. Notice that the schematic shows what looks like a signal from pin 1 and from pin 5 on the input jack. The jack from the guitar is a mono plug so how does that work. I have the schematic if anybody has some troubleshooting help. Not sure if the amp is functioning correctly or not.

Re: Clean channel ? on JCM600 combo

This was one of the earlier channel switchers made by Marshall. I used to have a JCM800 channel switching combo and, as far as I remember, the 600 was more or less the same amp. My 800 had a clean channel that had nowhere near the output of the overdrive channel, it was virtually unusable as a two channel amp. In fact it was virtually unusable as a one channel amp because it sounded terrible. Also, over the course of a few months it dismantled itself i.e. fell to bits. One of the worst, most unreliable amps I've owned and enough to put me off Marshalls for life.

My JCM602's clean channel isn't as loud as the overdrive channel either. I think it's the nature of the beast.
