My guitar has these areas on the sides of the body where some kind of gunk has crept on.

I used it at a rehearsal last night, before that it was fine. The issue itself is almost impossible to photograph, but I've been wiping my guitar down with Gibson pump polish all today and can't get the "smudging" out.

You might be able to see the issue in the photographs, it's the areas where the finish is obviously full and does not reflect light like the rest of the glossy finish does.

I've researched and come up with naphtha as a possible solution since the polish is not working.

Has anyone encountered and issue like this and how can I clean the guitar?

I believe that the issue might just be dust and dirt, my guitar was in its case so I cannot imagine this being the nitro finish itself being damaged.

dont use dunlop 65 on nitro. it makes it go cloudy and matt.
ive found that auto polish like meguiars works well on nitro tho.
