cleaning scratchy pots

I've got some rack gear that has scratchy pots - probably everyone does.....so what's the best stuff to get to clean it, and where do you get it (online)?

Do you just spray it on the shaft within the pot? Assuming the pot itself isn't bad...

Need a little "pot" primer....

Tuner cleaner SF. You can purchase some at Radio Shack.

On the other end of the shaft inside the chassis, on the main body of the pot, you will see a little peak hole that you can spray the cleaner in. Work the knob back and forth quite a few times. I usually follow it up with some compressed air.

Let it dry for a while before powering back up.

If you find yourself continually cleaning the pot, then it is time for a replacement.

theres a way to check wether its just ceanable or if you need to replace it

turn the scratchy knob over and over again, if the scratchyness goes down and than becomes completely smooth, than it means its cleanable, if it stays scratchy, you need new ones.
