This is some stuff I cut with All The Kings Men. I just updated this website, so use the lo-fi mode. The mp3s haven't been cleared yet.

I used my Les Paul Deluxe with a JB that had an A2 magnet. The amp is a Soldano SLO-100 with a Mesa 412 mounting 4 Soldano X12000 speakers. The mics are an SM-57, and a Sennheiser.

There is no bass guitar on the tracks. That's a Chapman Stick played by Dennis Allen, a good friend of mine who now owns 7 operates Aztec Recording here in Memphis.

Danny Jones (SRV, Patti LaBelle, et al) was producer and engineer. Danny's now in Houston reviewing a recent recording done in Nashville at Gene Breeden Studios. We pitched some tunes to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and I always like to get his input.

There are no slides or whammy bars on the tracks. Hope you like it!

sounds good man.....that stick sounds amazing!!

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Yeah, the Stick was cool to hear, and to see on stage. You can't get a bass guitar to do some of the things you can do with a Stick. There was a band from Dallas called Ten Hands that inspired us to use it. Peter Gabriel's bass player also uses one from time to time.

I am getting a message "this download hasn't been cleared yet", I'll try again tomorrow.

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Some nice tunes man!! Cool blend of styles.

I am digging the guitar more than the Chapman myself. I never really liked their tone as they just are not that beefy. Maybe through an Ampeg...lol Now that could be cool.

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

yep, dennis was playing one of the earlier versions of the stick, which was thinner sounding than later ones. Danny had some tube compressors that fattened it up a bit.

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Thanks! I will post some other stuff soon. I'll include some of the country-pop stuff as well. That was cut with the Bogner, and the Tele and Firebird Strat. Quite a contrast in tones, to be sure!

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Hi everybody! I should have more ATKM clips soon. Also, some Bogner/Antiquity things as well. See you soon!

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

dunno if u will feel offfended

but i listened to the first clip

and i thought, "Is that James Hetfield singing?" Sounds like something I woulda heard off of MetallicAs "Load" or "ReLoad" which were kinda like the stuff u played on there

very cool dude!

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Awesome! I really like what I've heard so far (am listening to the first clip as I type this). I agree with the Metallica comment, and you should take that as a huge compliment. The guitar sounds rippin'!
What's a chapman stick?

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Nice to hear some variety with the stick--cool sounds and there is a little "Hetfield" in the vocals.

...just waitin' for the tele now...

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Nice to hear a stick in use again - I used to love Tony Levin's stuff with Gabriel and King Crimson. Your guitar sounds are really nice - the clean is equally as good as the dirty sound. I am looking forward to the country stuff as well.

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Oh man I am listening to Take my Hand now and I love that rhythmic groove.

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Hey guys! Thanks for spicing things up a bit. I never thought Kevin had much of a Hetfield thing goin' on, but its cool to hear that. "Take My Hand" was influenced by David Gilmour's delay rhythm techniques, always loved the sound of that. The lead is pretty much a tribute to Richie Blackmore. Some "Made In Japan" madness mixed with "King of Dreams," and also some influence from the theme song to "Dirty Harry."

Re: clips: A2 JB/SLO-100/Chapman Stick

Whoa! That's some rippin' tone there! Sounds like the Soldano is made to tear heads sonically. I thought that solo was absolutely crushing, awesome!
