Closest Duncan to a Dirty Fingers?

What is the closest Duncan to a Dirty Fingers?

I want to replace the bridge pup only in my Epiphone SG Custom. Alnico Classic Pros are ok, but I have a Les Paul with a Gibson Dirty Fingers and that is the same tone I want from my SG, or as close as I can get. I would also be buying a gold cover to match the neck. Recommend a cover that would fit the Duncan with no issues.

I gravitated to the Custom originally to get sounds similar sounds to Tony Rombola’s Les Pauls with 500Ts in the bridge position, so it depends whether that’s close enough to the Dirty Fingers sound.
Customs are pretty awesome, and worth looking into.

Maybe the Holdsworth Metal Fatigue then? I think the custom shop can put a double row cover on it.

Yeah I just checked this out and it looks really interesting. A custom shop order with gold cover 4 conductor wiring would run me around the same as a new Dirty Fingers would.

I use the Custom for John Sykes Whitesnake tones (he used Dirty Fingers in his Les Paul Custom back in the day), and it works fantastic.

Here are the specs for the DF:
  • The pickup's overwound yet balanced coils feature adjustable pole pieces, which allows you to fine tune the output of each individual string. The Dirty Fingers also features shielded, four-conductor wiring for series, parallel or split coil operation and is fully wax potted to eliminate any chance of microphonic feedback.
  • Output: 14k
  • Position: Both
  • Magnet: Ceramic
  • Wiring: 4-Conductor
  • Details Gibson's Dirty Fingers pickups are also grabbing attention of hi-def shredders everywhere! Unique sounds, uniquely Gibson
Reading this, I'll stick with my recommendation of the Custom.

The Custom is pretty awesome period. I play Whitesnake on one usually.

That said - for 500T sounds in a Duncan, get a Distortion. The 500T is so darn close I'd never swap one for a Distortion.

The Custom is like a more refined Gibson 500T. It is hands down one of my favorite pickups for a Les Paul. I would imagine that it would also sound very nice in an SG.

the metal fatigue will look like a DF, but it won't sound like one. I think it's just the old Duncan AH-1, which is essentially a double screw JB.

Oh this SG has the quick connects. Custom don't. Since it has that, I don't have to buy anything else? Just solder it up like you normally would? I don't have any experience with replacing connector pickups to non ones.
