The rigidity issue aside, how does the capacitance of RG6/58/59 type coax compare to that of a high quality instrument cable designed for the application? Better? worse?

This is exactly what I did. I used it for all of the inner wiring in my strat. I used coaxial but I'm guessing it had quite a bit smaller radius than your buried cable.

The shielding is great, very little noise even with a p90

The best cable to use in a noisy situation is RG58 radio coax. It is 100% braid shielded and Motorola's cable has a stranded center conductor for flexibility. It is basically the same as CB coax. It is thin though and tends to tangle easy, but in a perfect world it is the best, much easier to use.

That'd be sweet! I have about 400ft in my garage. Even if it's rigid it'd still be cool for making a bunch of pedal jumpers.

+1 on this. There's coax just a'layin around, waiting to be used like this.
