coffee colored guitars?

Saw this Fiat on the road recently (I guess it'd be more like coffee with cream), I thought it'd be a cool color for a guitar, or maybe a coffee burst that goes from this in the center to black or dark brown on the edges.

Re: coffee colored guitars?

Well, a "real" coffee colored guitar would be nice too. Like a really deep almost black brown.

Re: coffee colored guitars?

I almost went with a coffee (with cream) metallic with my green Tele when deciding on the finish. I think it would be a cool finish. My buddy had a sick paint sample that I was seriously considering.

Re: coffee colored guitars?

It kinda reminds me of what my (long since sold) Gibson CS SG Custom was like. It had that "aged white/cream" thing going on with gold hardware. Sharp looking instrument, if only it played and sounded as good as it looked it would still be here.

You'd have thought that would've been right up Fender's street at some point or other

It was. CBS/Fender called it something like Antigua. Mushroomy-beige in the middle. Mushroomy-grey around the edges. Perhaps, they should have named the finish Mushroom?

Magic? Kinda. It managed to make the finishes on the 25th Anniversary Stratocaster look attractive. :D

Re: coffee colored guitars?

I would like coffee coloured everything.

My old apartment in Toronto was shades of coffee and coffee ingredients. the walls were creamy coffee, the ceiling was milk, the couches were dark brown coffee grounds, the rug was cappucino/latte but had patches of espresso all over. It was a delicious place to live.

You're coffee colored too so you could camouflage yourself around the house for fun. :headbang:

It was. It was called Desert Tan by Fender, and it was used exclusively on early Musicmasters and Duo-Sonics. However, Fender called two different colors by this name. One (the one from the mid-1950's) was pretty much white, though with a slightly minty tint (VERY slight), originally the Chrysler color Desert Sand. In the late '50's, it was replaced with a different color entirely, originally formulated to be Mesa Tan, again for Chrysler. This color is beige, like the car in the OP, however, the Fender name for the color remained the same ("Desert Tan"). It only lasted a few years, then more '60's-ish colors became the standards on Fender's student model guitars.

My No. 1 is this color ('02 Custom Shop Esquire NOS):

Re: coffee colored guitars?

My '04 LP Standard has the "Latte Cream" finish. It was the main reason I bought the guitar, really. It's kind of like the burst the OP was thinking about, but the beige is the outer color, not the inner.

Re: coffee colored guitars?

^ thats a great guitar, even if they did seemingly go a bit heavy on the toner in the middle (or maybe its just lightly figured wood).

I'd thought to call this almost finished build of mine The Latte Special, but seeing the above guitar its more like a Super Strong Latte Special. Its a bit less orange-ish in RL.
