Coil split on Duncan strat size humbuckers

Hello all, I was wondering which side of the mini humbuckers (lil 59, jb Jr. , etc) remains active when using a coil split with the standard wiring (red and white to ground)? The side the cable exits on, or the other side? Thanks for any help you can give!

Re: Coil split on Duncan strat size humbuckers

First of all, they are NOT "mini humbuckers", they are single-coil-sized humbuckers. Yes, they are smaller than regular humbuckers, but "mini humbuckers" are a specific type of pup different from either a full sized (regular) humbucker or a single coil sized (strat sized) humbucker. Mini humbuckers are actually the same size as a P-90 pup.

The north coil, or slug coil, is active when red and white wires are grounded...

Since your question has been answered, let me clarify the terms of mini and single coil sized:

Mini Humbucker:

Single Coil Sized Humbucker:

Please understand, we are not trying to be pedantic internet trolls who are just here to give you a hard time. There are specific terms for specific things you need in this world and using the wrong term can cost you money and result in disapointment ESPECIALLY on the internet.

See you,

Re: Coil split on Duncan strat size humbuckers

Thanks guys, and understand the difference between strat size and mini hums. Replace the word "mini" in my first question with "strat"! I did reference the little 59 and Jb Jr, but I know where you are coming from, you want to be sure what I'm asking for. Since there isn't really a "slug coil" on the strat sized humbuckers, that's why I was trying to differentiate by either the cable exit side or vice versa. North I can figure out based on a standard sized SD HB and transfer that to the Lil 59.

Re: Coil split on Duncan strat size humbuckers

As far as I know, the coil where the wires exit on the strat sized buckers would be comparable to the screw coil on full sized buckers. Someone correct me or add clarification if I'm wrong.

red & white w/ green & bare should be the north coil (traditionally where the slugs would be).

green & black w/ white & bare would give the south coil.
