Coil splitting with no switch.

On a SD humbucker, what is the easiest way to coil split the humbucker without a switch? It's ok that it will split all the time.

Is there a wire I can cut or something like that?

Pickup is 4 conductor.

push-pull pot. You have the option of pure split/full, or parallel/full depending on how you wire the pickup to the switch part of the pot.

Sorry, I don't think I explained myself very well. I would like to know if I can split the humbucker with what I already have, I dont want to add push/pulls or any switch.

Re: Coil splitting with no switch.

If you have a tone control, you can wire it for "dial-a-tap" wiring. That is the wiring I use on my Dimebucker. You can get a not-quite-single coil sound out of it, or go full humbucker or just single with this wiring.

Alternately, if you want to split it, like go single coil forever, yes, you can just wire it for one coil to the volume pot.

Here is a link to Duncan's wiring examples:

Re: Coil splitting with no switch.

what configuration do you currently have on your guitar? single pickup w/ single volume? multiple pickup with a pickup selector switch? any other combination?

if it comes down to it, yes, you can just change the wiring so that it's split all the time. but split will give you a bit of hum. also consider wiring it in parallel. if you go to the main SD site and snoop around, you'll see a page that's full of drop-down menus for all sorts of wiring options.
