Coil Tap issue

Yo!

I've had plans to add a coil tap to my double humbucker flying v for a while, i've fitted an SH-6 in the bridge and i'm planning to install a stag mag in the neck when i get the cash. My guitar has two volumes and a single tone btw. Anywho thought i'd give me soldering skills a work out and replaced the bridge volume pot with a push/pull pot to tap the SH-6, (before doing the same to the neck volume pot when i've installed the stag mag). All went to plan (after a few false starts with the wiring) however, at first the pot tapped the pickup and didn't affect the volume AT ALL (was always full volume), after a bit of fiddling the pot now taps the pickup and affects the volume from full volume to a lower volume but it never cuts the sound completly.

Anyone know of a trouble shoot for this or experienced it themselves? is this a common problem that can be solved? does it sound like a dodgey pot? or is it just my dodgey soldering skills?

Any help would be awesome

Thanks

TFB

Re: Coil Tap issue

use a meter if you have it, it sounds like the ground lug isnt making good contact.
