Cold Rolled Steel Vs. Titanium Strat Block? I have a very light one piece Alder body Strat. It has a cold rolled Steel Block. One of my favorite Strats ever! Just so woody/warm! Thinking of further weight reduction ( already have a aluminum neck plate and light weight vintage style tuners).
From and engineering stand point, what is the diffErence between a lighter, less mass, but harder Ti , and a Heavier ( more mass) steel block? Almost seems like it would be a wash.

(BTW, aslso thinking of putting on a light roasted i piece maple neck to replace the current maple -Pau Ferro dual trussrod neck).

I have a thinking that the Ti block will be brighter. Maybe a bit bassier too given that it's less dense than steel.

There's your reason not to even bother thinking about such things on this particular guitar. Don't mess with a good thing, regardless of it's specs. Just play it and enjoy it's wonderfulness, because any changes may well not be for the better in this case.

Man, what a great point . Thank you sir! I'm infected with the grass-is -greener-on the other side syndrome..'what if, what if'? Ya know, at a certain point ya just ditch the whole guitar. I've seen guys on the forum come to that- just buying and selling aimlessly-no real purpose . Guess I'm not too far off. Still, a few ounces is a few ounces..DOH!! :smack:

Yeah, it is really up to us to stop from obsessing about 'better' and 'upgrades' to the point it stops us from actually playing and creating music. If a piece of gear gets you closer to your sonic nirvana, than by all means, obtain it. But set the goal clearly, first.
