Combo Amp choice VS

Re: Combo Amp choice VS

Just remember... You sell MILLIONS of something and some of them are going to have a problem. Simple statistics. I've even seen Peaveys break down. I still think they're practically indestructible.

Very true. But I've seen waaay more complaints on Bugera than ANY other brands that I've looked into. I will say I loved my Peavey 3120, almost bought another one but dont really need the 120 watts of power nowadays...

Maybe if I hold buying amp I can save some money, and buy smth better.
What do you think about EVH 5150 III 1x12?
I know that Peavey 6505 used to be 5150 and all Edie Van Halen thing blah blah blah.
If it is the same as 6505 why is more expensive? Peavey 6505 = 600 euros + speaker swap to Celestion Vintage 30 135 Euros. 735. Still cheaper.
In which way the EVH is better? Is it worth buying it? Or it is just a paying for the brand?

Well keep in mind that the contract between EVH and Peavey isn't in effect anymore, thats how Peavey came out with the 6505. Fender is now making amps for EVH. And personally I like them a little more. The sound has a little more "oomph" to it and with my ear...playing rock/metal theres seems to be a little more tonal versatility with the EVH III. I just ended up trading my Ironheart120 for an EVH 5150III 50 watt. Dont get me wrong, the 6505 is still a great amp too. Any chance you can go try both of them out..???

Re: Combo Amp choice VS

I was in the store today and the price to peavey 6505 raised to 800 euros and they don't have it on stock (few stores). I can't afford that right now. But I played Roland cube 80gx and I liked the sound. What can you say about this amp? Is it loud enough for band rehearsal and gig? Does it get muddy when it is loud??

Roland
Fk yeah
I have the 30 watt version
And it sounds great for what I do

If you want to replace a 6505 probably not what you need

Re: Combo Amp choice VS

You gotta do what makes you happy, but just a thought ... If you really want the 6505, save up for it. You'll probably end up with it eventually, anyway. Only, it will be much later rather than sooner if you buy something else now.

Re: Combo Amp choice VS

As Dominus said in post #2

A Bandit and a pedal will do most everything

I would suggest a Boss DS-1 pedal

Re: Combo Amp choice VS

Found Mesa Boogie Studio 22 combo in the store. I like the sound and the clean sound was better to me than 6505. Did anybody have experience with this amp?
