Looking to add a 1x12 or maybe 1x15 combo for new project but would really like to not miss the low end I get with my main rig.

Thought?

Old Mesa with an EV speaker?

Thanks

big cab with a bass heavy speaker with an amp that has a big bottom end. whats your normal rig?

Re: Combo with best low end??

Normal rig is Mesa single Rectoverb and 2x12 cab. Thanks
I would love to find something easy and portable ... Even a Tech 21 Trademark 30 comes to mind

Re: Combo with best low end??

Stiletto Ace 112. These have a closed back, one of only a very few with this configuration. Otherwise a Mark III or IV with the EVM, or a Mark IV Wide-Body.

But in all honesty, most BF and tweed Fender combos have about the most bass available.

Something close backed for certain.

I bet a 1X12 closed back with a Swamp Thang in it would perform well.

I will vouch for the mighty EVM speaker. I have a MkIV wide body with a Black Shadow, which I found a little lacking by itself, so I added the unassuming looking but powerful Thiele extension cab with a single EVM and it is heavenly now! Even on the 15 watt Class A setting I usually use, it will drive me out of the room before it runs of breath.

I haven't used EVMs but I can say that the Mesa C90s have a lot of oomph. I'm a big fan, I had a 4x12 made with them.

The Express 5:50+ combo has one of these in it and it has a lot of thump. But it is open back. I converted mine to a head, kept the black shadow and put it in an external Stone Age custom 1x12 cab. It can be easily converted to closed back although I have not done so. I'm all about low end and I'm pretty happy with this rig.
