Comic Relief while on the pickup hunt

Cheer up folks, the hard work of finding the ideal pickup will end successfully, so your blood pressure can soon return to normal and you can go outside for some fresh air again. Here's a zinger of a thought to start the day off with:

"Tone? Who cares about tone! It's all about the music!"

Thoughts? Reflections? Anecdotes?

Re: Comic Relief while on the pickup hunt

Music is about tone... good violins leave guitars way back in their price range, opera singers were all about tone... think about listenning to thin sounding guitars and a singer with no voice for the whole album (not that you can't find examples).

You can practice all day long and use cheap bad sounding guitars but do you really think that anyone would've cared about EVH licks if he didn't have tone?

Re: Comic Relief while on the pickup hunt

Tone is subjective, music itself is very subjective. What speaks to some won't speak to all.
That said I think if you wanna make it in todays eh... hemmmm... "American Music" industry, your best bet is to relax about your gear and spend all you time either recruiting, or becomming a HOT HOT HOT 18 year old lil girl with abnormally sized breasts considering her 85 LB frame.
If you got one of those fronting your band, you can have a Kazoo Quintet as backup and noone would seem to care....
Uh... Jessica Simpson, Lindsey Blohan, Paris Friggin Hilton......
Come on now!!!!
Sorry for the rant.......
I'm just depressed at the state of music in the US currently.
