Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So I have finally got around to setting things up in Audio & Video!

Suhr Riot vs Joyo US Dream vs Mooer Solo
- Dean Cadillac w/ Pearly Gates
- Mesa Stiletto on Tight Clean channel

And let me say this....I think you'll find it very very interesting!!!! Been fun playing with all three at once....

I'm using my Jamman Express to keep the playing consistent

A few things you'll see:
- Each pedal running its range on distortion and EQ
- Open rhythm, Bar chords, and Solos using each
- Common familiar riffs
- No auxiliary effects; Pure Pedals
- Each pedal set to be as close as possible to the others! Can it be done???
- Maybe a Surprise ending. Or two...

Already got the intro titles and music done!!!

I wanna see this. Don't forget to wear pants in this one.

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Ill enjoy this when it comes around. About the no pants thing, I dont wanna know

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Weird that it specifically has to be Mincer with pants off for the pedals to achieve true tone potential.

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Slow down there ace. How about a little warning before you give us an announcement?

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Some pedals are True Buy-pants. You can't afford pants because the pedal is so damn expensive!

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Gonna film some today. Might get it all done. Might not.

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

I have a few special endings planned, including...

Official gear rundown
The Ola Eglund ending
Tube amp distortion fanboy disclaimer
Pedal Video Pet Peeves

All of these should be included.

Ace, some advice if you are doing a video. If your goal is you want people to make a true A/B/C comparison without influence. Try to allow for a blind comparison for the viewer by using their ears by labeling each forthcoming gear tone with a number on screen and an audible number in the audio track at the beginning of each track -in this way people can watch your video and make tonal comparisons without emotional attachment to brand names or graphics and really find out what they prefer. And then announce what the gear the numbers reference to at the end.

I always prefer those style videos because they teach a lot more about what the gear is actually doing and what the person listening really prefers. There's a guy on here who makes great amp comparison videos, but you can't follow blindly and compare easily so they are kind of a wasted opportunity, because nobody is easily following 15 amp tones for :30 each and not falling in love with the graphics, features and brands they see while listening to the tone. -emotional attachments and bias can totally color your conclusions -and without reference numbers in the audio track and on screen it's difficult to just listen to the audio tracks and follow along.

Just a suggestion if you're thinking of that style video, if not consider for the future.

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Dude - THAT hurts! Have you not read my rants on label bias?!?!?!?!

Or...have you been spying??? What else have you seen me doing on screen???

A little preview....the very first play is The Mob Rules riff 3x without in random order without seeing the pedals!!!

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

The Mob Rules is a legit pedal demo. That's just science, right there.

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Might I suggest a loop to eliminate changes in playing dynamics

Re: Coming Soon! Pedal Shootout / Comparison

Another pet peeve: when they don't play the clean sound before kicking on the gain pedal! Kind of moot with an A/B/C comparo, though.

As long as there isn't a long introduction and/or a lot of talking I'll be happy. Less chatter, more get at'er!
