Who can compare the Norton with those two Duncan I Know ?
Norton ; B=6.5 M=7 T=5 DC=14.01 ouput=352mV

Is it near to the Custom and the Fred is near to the Demon ?

It's not a very popular Dimarzio since the introduction of the Air Norton, which I find sounds like 2 completely different pickups to my ears. The Norton to me seemed to have less of that compressed Dimarzio tone that you can tell and more of a thick sound for the low mids and low end growl. Medium output, but I would say as for Dimarzio pickups, the Norton is one of the more natural sounding (kinda the way a Duncan sounds in relation to a Dimarzio) pickups.

No. Regardless of what the numbers say, those pickups sound nothing alike. The only pickups I find *somewhat* similar between both lines are the Fred & JB. Otherwise, they're 2 different worlds (Duncan & Dimarzio) IMO.

Re: Compare Norton over Custom and Demon ?

I have a Mahogony Ibanez Japanese Sabre 540 with a Norton(b) and Air Norton(n)

The Norton is one of my favorite bridge pickups. I have the Norton / Air Norton wired using a dimarzio multipole so all five positions use two coils from the nortons. Its obvious that the norton has the SAME voice as the air norton (which is a very popular neck pickup) just hotter. Used this way they are calibrated perfectly for output.

The bridge norton is a medium-high output pickup with a strong midrange. It has a touch of the dimarzio presence on top, and not so much of a treble spike. Its kinda like a hot version of fred with more mids. Hi-fi sounding pickup. Not as much bass and output as the Tone Zone so it does not sound muddy or compressed. Its a modern interpretation of a standard HB sound (It comes off as being a little more open and growly)

May or may not work with your guitar amp and cab. I didnt like it in the basswood RG I have, but it suits the mahogony.
