Hello, this is a question regarding a fairly unique wiring setup for 1 single coil, 1 humbucker, 4 push/pull pots.
I'm building my first guitar as a kind of senior project for myself before I go off to college and don't have the time or money to do so.. At the moment I'm about a week into the actual build and have cut the body out of a combination of koa, monkey pod, wenge, and cuban mahogany. It is really looking nice.
I've ordered a Single coil Lollar Charlie Christian HB Route Pickup for the neck position because I really love the clean tone that comes from it. (http://www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/me...e=222&Category_Code=charlie-christian-pickups) The wiring on this pickup is comparable to a P-90.
I am also buying a Seymour Duncan 4 conductor SH-1 59' neck pickup soon and my question is, how can I get something like the infamous 21 tone jimmy page wiring, but with this lollar single coil in the neck and a 4 conductor bridge pickup? I love the versatility that the 4 push/pull pots provide, creating a ton of different tones, and that is exactly what I'm trying to do here pairing these vastly different pickups together...
I'm trying to do this because I've set out to make a really versatile guitar. I would like to be able to split the bridge humbucker, put the pickups in/out of phase, make the wiring in series/parallel, and one more option that I have not yet decided on... Sorry for the uninformed rant, I'm sure it is apparent by now that I've never wired pickups before but I hope that I can learn quickly
I know a bit about electrical current, at least as much as two years of high school physics has taught me, so hopefully that should be enough to get me started in the right track!
Again, I will be using a single coil in the neck, a 4 conductor humbucker in the bridge, and 4 push/pull pots (along with whatever caps are required), performing similar functions to your jimmy page wiring. I want to have the option to put in another 4 conductor humbucker in the neck eventually and be able to convert it to the jimmy page wiring with the two split coil controls, the out of phase and the series/parallel if I decide to replace the jazz-y pickup with a normal one. For the time being, however, I can only split one pickup obviously because only one is an actual humbucker...
Anyway, I've been researching online and I have not been able to really find someone who's got the same goal as me, so I thought I would consult the experts! Hopefully we can figure this out soon so I get get to finishing my guitar build!
Thank you so much for your help!
By the way, here (http://johannf.imgur.com/) are some images of the process I've gone through so far to make this thing! Hope you like it!
