Will a good Compressor/Sustainer pedal help me get screaming, sustaining lead tone?

Re: Compressor

welcome to the forum!!

a compressor will get you more sustain, depending on which one you get you may also have a control for attack so it can be very sharp or more of a slow rise. the scream will come from your amp

Re: Compressor

No, but a good tube amp with a nice OD infront will ;).

Re: Compressor

Thanks for the welcome! Right now I use a digitech death metal pedal through my solidstate Randall 200 watt combo amp,the rhytm tone is great and heavy,I just need something to add power and sustain to my solo's.I'm thinking about getting the Digitech Main Squeeze Compressor/Sustainer.

Will a compressor help my tapping to sound out better?

Re: Compressor

A good compressor will definitely help even out your tone, as well as add punch and sustain in a way that you can't get from just an overdrive or distortion pedal.

I'm a recent convert to compressor pedals, and now I can't believe I've never used one before. It adds a nice, professional sheen to the tone that I really enjoy.

I use the Homebrew Electronics CPR compressor.

Thats not true...a compressor can help get a better lead tone if used correctly. While putting an OD pedal in front will do the same it will also xhange the tone more than a good compressor.

Re: Compressor

Best compressor i have heard these days is by a small company called Diamond..... the Diamond Comp and a fuzz pedal together makes some serious singing leads

Re: Compressor

I've got a Marshall Edward compressor
its supposed to be OKAY!
Unless you get a keeley modded compressor or tube compressor by EHX
