Re: Computer speakers...what should I get?

Oops sorry, I didn't pay attention to the price limit. With a price close to that you could get these studio monitors for PC and if you have a good sound card you'll have a studio in your home. ;)

A friend of mine has a phantom x8 keyboard running stereo into these monitors.. and.. wow.. turn the lights out and listen to the setup and you would never need illegal drugs again.

Re: Computer speakers...what should I get?

Way outside of your price range but I use studio monitor system with an 8" subwoofer:

You can turn off the subwoofer to get a precise, flat (not eq'd) sound or mix the sub in to get some really good thump for movies, music and games. Its got 75 watts to each speaker and gets really loud but always accurate with no distortion. The remote comes in handy to control the entire system too.

Re: Computer speakers...what should I get?

I've read good reviews of that set. I've heard the Altec VS4121 set at Target and liked them for $49. Target has a set of the VS4221's for $79. The VS4121's get very good reviews on the PC online review sites I've visited. For $49. they might might be hard to beat. I kind of want to get something quickly. Thanks! Lew

I've got the VS 4121.

Hope this helps you abit. I found it slightly lacking in low mids.

Re: Computer speakers...what should I get?

I like the way Boston Acoustics speakers are voiced...I had two sets of their speakers, and kept one set set and gave the other set to Bruce for Christmas. I'll bet the ones in the Ebay listing are excellant. Thanks!
Logitech Z4s... Lew, Dusty just bought this set for his computer at Circuit City for around $75.00 and they sound pretty darn good.

Re: Computer speakers...what should I get?

can't really go wrong with a pair of Logitechs! I've got a pair of Logitech Z4s (2.1 stereo, great sound, love em)

Definitely look into at least getting a set with a sub, the subwoofer can make a big difference.

heres the link to the cnet review of the Z4s (you can get it for $80-100 no prob)

the subs pretty compact, good sound tho. theres a dial that comes with it for volume, bass level, etc and there is an MP3 input jack and headphone jack

highly recommend! my friend also has a 4.1 logitech system that is at least 5 years old and has never let him down:beerchug:
