Raging BB Gunologist
I was installing a new set of hums in my LP (59 & C5) and ran into huge problems.
When I first installed and tested everything, only the bridge hum was working, and only in the middle position on my switch.....I tried re-tracing the wires and when I switched a pair to put the bridge back on the treble position nothing would work anymore (all I could get is a very weak output, similar to the output you get with a volume knob on zero that still leaks some signal through).
I eventually cut out the stock wiring and re-wired the switch....same problem.
I removed the tone pots from the circuit....same problem.
Now I've removed all the pots and hardwired the pups direct to the switch, and the switch direct to the output jack....everything works.
I double checked the wiring based on the 2 hum, 2 vol, 2 tone diagram on the Duncan site, but nothing worked and it doesn't seem very likely that both volume pots bit the dust at once. Has anyone run into this problem before? Am I missing something obvious? I don't doubt that I messed something up, but I sure as hell couldn't figure it out.
