Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

It is ready...no mods needed, and it is Thomas who is the delay master here:)
I just test them...hehe
It will hit production in the near future.

To quote the review in the new May issue - "Don't devalue your amp with mods: just get an AC-Tone and enjoy a whole new palette of sounds."

A nice review, Niels. Congratulations!

+1 Niels, and still loving my Carl Martin Plexitone!

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

It delays stuff;)
Switchable between tempotap and manual time, a loop in the feedback for external modulation, about 1.5 secs of delays, longest on the manual side.
Trails on off switch, hybrid delay with all analouge signal path and the feedback is the only digital in that thing, two chips to generate delay, more bandwidth for a more fat clear sound, toneknob to adjust the feedbacks sound, can go from very open natural to more warm and subdued.
Needless to say that I think Thomas outdid himself with that one....and I have had a delay or two in my time!

Hey Rid, what price range are we lookining at ?
Cheaper than the DeLayla XL ??? . . . or not ?

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

;) Thanks....
Cheaper than the DeLayla XL ??? . . . or not ?
Well same as the Red Repeat;)
It will cost more than a XL...more parts and more productionstuff is going on.
I want your job.

Congrats man!
Thanks, well the pay is lousy...and the boss can be a PITA...but I guess it is ok considering that it is fun nevertheless!
hehe
And some insider stuff...we call it the Old mans drive;)

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Allways complainin' Niels. You make much better pay than me.. I only make 1400bucks a month.

:D

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Switchable between tempotap and manual time,
That sounds like a good pedal! Can you set it to say 500ms and actually see that value or is it just tap tempo? My biggest complaint about delay boxes except the Black Box which got it right imo is that you can't sync to a track in a DAW by absolute values. Tempo tap is okay for a band in action but in the studio it isn't locked tight enough for my taste when you have a programmed track to play against.

*Edit: Toneports work well too for delays in sync. The BB sync's to the host computer though which is awesome.

And! Congratulations on the good review!!!

Great pedal, Rid. Congrats! That YouTube demo is very nice. It really does capture the Vox overdrive. Do you have any demos of the Plexitone?

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Thanks...no demo of the Plexitones....do not have a camcorder!
The Echotone is a strict live simple to operate delay, it is not processeor controlled, the delay is setup like an oldstyle analouge delay:)
No readouts, we are not dwelling much in the digital world sorry!

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

I have a Plexitone and Red Repeat.

Nice stuff!

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Very cool! Definitely an AC Tone :fingersx: I might have to own one of these soon :smokin:

I did NOT agree with this guy about switching. Maybe he does not play live? That is very cool that you can push both switches at the same time. It isn't confusing after you've used it a couple of times. Rid, please keep the nomenclature as is :27:

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

;)
No changes...what I find the most funny, is the comment how it operates like an ampswitcher, and then he is all confused about the switches layout...very logical:D

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

:werd: I figured it out just watching the clip.

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

I won't say it was PURELY intuitive. But even a non-tweaker like me can figure it out by looking at it.

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

Extra sustain without too much extra gain? Call it the power drive! Sounds like the perfect power valve distortion like sound to me, and I must say I'm quite curious heheh...

Re: Congrats to Rid! AC-Tone gets Guitar World Platinum Award

It is just an overdrive:)
Nothing magical or extreme about it....a matter of finding the components setup that makes certain sounds come out.
And for everyone, a pedal will never sound better than the amp powering it!
So good speakers, good amp or amps...always the ticket to nice sounds.
