Considering getting the Vox Custom Classic AC30CC2X...

This is the one with the Alnico Blues. A few questions. Is it worth the price raise to get these speakers? Is there another amp that can deliver a similar sound for a better price? It seems like the one for me though...

The Alnico Blues are the speakers that came in the vintage Vox amps so they're the only way to really get the 'true' Vox tone.

Go for it man. It's one of my favorite amps in the shop.

I got one without the Blues and I still love it. I may put some Weber Blues in there eventually. GREAT amp.

Wrong Again. No need to pay 500.00 bucks extra for Celestion Alnico Blues. Thats the sa;lesman in Pockets comeing out.
Just buy the amp, then stuff in q couple of Weber Blue dogs or Eminence Red Fangs and pocket a couple hundred bucks

i'm not selling him anything -- he's not even in my state, much the store i work at.

it's a good amp with or without the correct speakers in it...but if i was getting a Vox, i'd want it to be a VOX.

Then again if I was getting a Vox I'd want it to be an Orange AD30TC...and we don't even stock those.

A friend of mine has 3 AC30s;

90s TBX Reissue
AC30CC2 with Wharfdale speakers
AC30CC2X with Alnico Blues

I hear very little difference at all between the 2 CCX models to be honest. The model with Blues sounded ever so slightly warmer, but I wouldn't say it was worth the extra upcharge for the Blue speakers.

Just imo :)

I just found a deal to get the one with the blues new for $750! Heck YEAH!!!

If you can get a good price on the blues its worth it although it still may be cheaper getting wharfdales then buying the celestions seperately as an upgrade or WGS Black and Blue's.
