Considering Making A New Baffle..........1X10 and 1X12........Alnico and Ceramic.....

I've got a cool blonde speaker cab that I am presently running a Fender Special Design Emminence 8 ohm 50 watt speaker. The cab is big enough to make a new baffle for both a 10 inch speaker and a 12 inch speaker. I want to use the existing speaker for my present rig and I am thinking of adding a 10 inch Celestion Gold in the cab. I already have speakers combined (Alnico/Ceramic) in other cab/amps and I like it. What can I expect using a 10 inch Alnico with a 12 inch Ceramic speaker combo?

One of the reasons I want to go with 2 speakers is that my Vox MV50 Clean functions optimally with a 4 ohm load for a total of 50 watts and 2 speakers seems like the best way to go. The 10 inch Celestion Gold is much less expensive then the 12 inch.

Consider a used 12" alnico instead imho?

I would absolutely agree, but there is a cost restraint My speaker cab isn't big enough for 2X12s but I could most definitely add a 10 inch speaker with a 12.

i run an alnico 1x10/1x12 combo. weber 10a150t and emi red fang. they sound great together! the red fang is a bit louder but the weber still fills in some magic

I'm with you......I'm all about the magic/mojo.

I would go with the more efficient (for a 10") Gold with something less efficient (for a 12") like a Greenback. I think that would be a very good match.

Having 60 watts or more (2x your weaker speaker rating, not simple arithmetic sum) would be a good idea though, for future versatility....compatible with big 100 and 120w heads with 2 pulled power tubes and pretty much all smaller heads as-is that way

My highest wattage is a power amp in a rack rig at 180 watts and I have a speaker that handles that. Everything else is 50 watts or less. I won't be using this cab for anything higher than 50 watts.
