constantly winding uneven coils...

Hi guys,
I am winding my first pickups and this is my 3rd attempt and I always get the same problem:

if you look from this side, the upper side is skewed, while the side on the bottom is somewhat straight...
I set up the machine (it's self-made) everytime. the pickup is perfectly centered on the axis of the motor/spinning part. It spins perfectly, without wobbling...

anyone know why?

It's as if the lateral move of the wire happened always on the same side, putting two turns side by side on one end while these two turns stay stacked as the same place at the other extremity...

I wouldn't feel able to guess "why" without seeing the winding machine "in person" and taking the time to know intimately its details but here is a place where your question might receive more inspired answers than mine:

Side note: uneven coils are not that rare, even in extremely famous pickups, AFAIK. Look the pics entitled "The coils" is this page: https://www.throbak.com/paf-pickups.html

Half of these coils are mishaped with angled sides, weither they come from real P.A.F.'s or from repro's...

yep, I thought the same thing...

thanks for the links, I'll check that out

update:

This time I wound clockwise and I held the wire underneath the "traverse rod" (IDK how its called) and it looks pretty good. not exactly even but very much ok.
