Hey guys I got a quick question. My friend has a Marshall Valvestate2 65w (I have a AVT20 now) and I am thinking of buying it off of him. Whats the difference between mid and contour knowbs? the clean had a mid one and the OD has countour which I undertand as "shifting "the mid frequencies..can soemone explain this more?

Re: contour vs mid knob

THe Contour controls the general "tonality" of midrange control, it essentially selects which frequency range the mid control effects in which way... kind of "do i want a bluesier amp or a more metallic amp" in the final effect it produces....

Re: contour vs mid knob

The countour knob is what Zerberus described.

By the way, is the amp that your friend is selling the VS65R?

I tried that amp and think that it's too treble and thin sounding. I have an AVT20, and its sound is better than the VS65R. I would recommend you to pass on that deal.

Re: contour vs mid knob

Well I'll definatly try it out first but thanks for the heads up...I also have a awsome story that may result in a new amp, look for my new thread in the Amplifier forum.
