Control/ Pickup cavity shielding?

Hey guys I am going to be putting pickups on my new guitar body thats been painted and I was wondering if I really need to put shielding on my control cavity or pickup cavities. Is it important to do so and do I need to put it in in order for the pickups to work? I noticed that my Jackson guitar has no shielding so I'm wondering if it is necessary to put shielding on the cavities.

Re: Control/ Pickup cavity shielding?

It's not necessary, no. The guitar will function without it.

But it will make the guitar much less noisy and keep it better protected from interference.
