Controversial Amp Covering

Scott's thread about the truck liner for an amp covering really bothered me because I knew I had heard somewhere of a boutique builder doing it but couldn't remember who.

The other night I picked up last month's Vintage Guitar (Tele on the cover)and was looking back through the low wattage shootout and figured out why. Skip Simmons uses a truck liner covering on some of his amps to a great degree of success, in fact VG said it actually wasn't an impairment at all. Now this coming from such nit-picky, hair splitters has got to mean something.

So, I for one still would like a green Celtic!

Re: Controversial Amp Covering

My drummer (who's a carpenter by trade) made our monitor cabs about 3 years ago using some counter top particle board and covered it with that "non-skid" paint. 3 years later, they're scuffed, but still going strong. Can't imagine why the truck liner stuff wouldn't work just as well.
