Convert guitar case into pedal case.

I want to convert a guitar case into a pedalboard case. I'm going to rip the guts out of the case and put down my own cut rubber for the pedals, and put in my own foam that will close down on top of the pedals.

Can any explain the best way to remove the standard hinges and install the 'detachable' hinges seen on all pedalcase's?

Large pedal case's are not available in australia unless I pay excessive $$$.

Also, has anybody else done this successfully?
