Guitarist: I thought it came out fine. I used "lo-fi" since I'm dial up, and I could hear the lead just fine. I listened to mine on lo-fi and I noticed that lo-fi seems to push the backing track further back in the mix, so perhaps that's why I heard it well. I liked your legato work, which is something I'm struggling with. Very 80's especially for a young-un. I'm guessing... hmm... your Jackson?

WFD: I dug the spaced out sound. I really liked your two-hand work. Sounded very fluid and professional.

Al C. I'm on dialup so your download would've taken a half an hour, damn, I didn't get a chance to listen.

i vote for WFD's take on it.. SOOO cool.. LOVE the trem pinch's, the tapping is way cool too..


oh and nuni, you might want to switch to decaf after that outro of yours ;)

very cool playing all. my charvel is due sometime in the 2nd week of april, but i got no idea how to record it, since i'm still bummed about my guitar port crapping out on me (and i seriously think it was a computer flaw, not the GP itself etc) so i dont know what i'll use to record

Matt, that was very cool! There was one line in particular that I liked. I would suggest you listen to what the other dudes have done with the track and try incorporating a bit of what you like in their takes to yours.

The opening harmonics on WFD's take the cake, tho: simple, effective, classic-sounding and OLD SCHOOL!!

Fantastic lol, I love those type of chords. They dominated my youth.... Sometimes being old is pretty damn fun. Wish I had the technology at home to take it for a test drive!!

al - your take is more my speed, friend !! (must be a generational thing :D ) .... great tone outta those fingers/guitar/amp

guitarist - DAMN, friend those are some major chops you're sportin' there .. serious speed/control/fluidity ...

jammermatt - i loved the 'go for broke' quality .. very natural and a cool melodic quality - no gratuitous wankin' ...

i´m gonna hear yours right now.
Mine could be better, I ASSUME THAT. but i had no time and i just learned that SCALE i used on the 2 riffs and it´s repetition JUST AFTER Recording it. so, ahahah i did not have time to think in some melodies to fill in on the rhythms. sorry for that guys. i´ll try to make more leads and contributions on the jams myself, cause i liked it and it forced me to THINK. that was a cool experience for me... i was pretty nervous... because in the first take, i couldn´t dial in a LEAD... that i stay away from listen that backing Track for 3 days. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAH

When i did those 12 fret natural harmonics.. i thought of EVH and Satriani on summer song.

Thank´s GUYS.
i promissed that i´ll do a BETTER JOB, both technycally and eq/"tonecally" next time on the leads... it is just.. THe backing track was SOO ****ING Good, so smooth and crunchy distortion and combination of notes that, I, MYSELF, didn´t think it needed a lead on it.

Hej Jammermatt, you had SImilar Ideas of mine when you think of how to put a melody on the song... i loved that tone... what pickup was that and what guitar? just my kind of tone... fo soloing on 2 Hands. Definitelly.

I broke a string on my Jem 7VSBL (w/ C5) so had to switch to a different guitar with a CC. I was lazy and used my POD XT (Uberschall). Kinda sounds like ass tone wise. I went back and punched in a harmony and fixed the string break fun.

WFD- I had no idea you were such a good lead player dude. I thought you just were into brutal stuff. Great work

Al.C- great tone man, that amp must be pretty nice, great playing also

guitarist- loved it man, nice chops

jammermatt- that lead break was strong and melodic

RGN, I loved it! Kinda Lynch-like in some places! Tone is a bit thin, tho ...
I love the way this backing track is bringing all the +30 headbangers out into the spotlight! :)

Edit: RGN, I think you might wanna look into an ESP Mirage or Lynch guitar. I think that tone would suit your playing to a T!

I like the ESP Mirage. Here is my main baby- an ESP MII Custom Shop. I owned a Skull & Snakes for a while but could never get used to the pull-up pickup selector. I was going to retrofit it with a three-way switch but ended up selling the guitar. Great job on the backing track.

You are right about it being a generational thing. I always have to laugh when I hear the other's playing style referred to as "old school". That must make old guys like me "pre-school". I learned to play in the 70's and that is where my playing is stuck. All the legato runs, arpegiated sweeps, tapping etc became "in-style" after my foundation was established. I used to be somewhat envious of the chops the younger guys have but somehow it just wouldn't suit me. I can't picture Clapton or Santana playing that way either. So I guess I am stuck with my pre-school playing :)

Guitarist, nice take man! - I think you used a tiny bit too much reverb though. You would probably have cut better with little less.

RGN, same comments as Ben really - tone is a bit thin but theres some cool moments deffinately

WFD - I heard your take before it got uploaded but still man, nice tapping licks and the intro is great :headbang:

JammerMatt - Sick divebomb on that pinch harmonic halfway through \m/ I liked the tone you got, it worked really well on the rhythm parts - really oldschool :)

I think you had the right idea about what to play, what I think you should do is try and work out that really short fast vibrato on some of the notes and try and make it wider and slower.

Al.C your take was sorta 80s mixed with 70s rock - very cool :smoker:

USA Jackson Soloist with a JB. Played through my Line6, and I used my "Ben Asaro" setting. Marshall JCM800 model. Bass/Mid/Treble about 3/4/3, Drive=5. A touch of delay. Tubescreamer out front with all settings at 12:00.

I was pleased with the rhythm tone, but the lead sounded just a little bit pinched. It could be the soundcard, or I could've been choking up a little on the pick due to being nervous.

Glad you dug the tone, though. Those JB's scream 80's metal, and my Jackson is a tad on the dark side for an alder neck thru in my opinion.
