This is a little out-of-date but on on the 10th i saw my favorite socio-politico-satanico-punkrock/ska/death metal band Leftover Crack play for the first time. Needless to say, shivers down my spine and all that, one of the best punk shows i've been to for a while...but we're not here to talk about that.
Their lead guitarist (who also writes, sings and plays for Morning Glory) had a black Gretsch solidbody (DuoJet?) with a stock Gretsch humbucker in the neck and what looked like a stock Tele bridge pickup just screwed into the humbucker mount! I guess this is so he can get his heavy palm-mute chugga-chugga sounds and their bright-bright-bright attack ska sounds without constantly switching instruments...
The only guitars I've ever seen in this configuration are Telecasters (dur) but I'm wondering, has anybody else seen or used this set-up? Can anyone think of a good chugga-chugga NECK humbucker to match a Tele bridge? In ANY kind of guitar imaginable? It's something I'm interested in...
