Weird, but kinda cool. I could see this being a lot easier to adapt to if you play primarily fingerstyle.

This thing has been around since the 90's. It appears that the inventor, or patent holder, or whatever, is trying to see if it will catch on a second time around.

It seems they've stopped producing them temporarily, but I saw this video on a guitar blog that said they cost just $30.
