Yeah, here's a cool Marshall demonstration video, with a very good guitar player called Chris George, he's testing some different Marshall amps. Watch it, it's very cool!

streaming real media:

Don't mind that they speak danish in the start, most of the video will be in english.

Re: Cool Marshall amps demonstration

By the way Chris has won guitar contests, and played with artist such as Iron Maiden and others.

Re: Cool Marshall amps demonstration

Cool!! and long.

I believe Chris plays awfully well, indeed. Nice slight return.

Re: Cool Marshall amps demonstration

Chris is awesome.. I've seen him a few times now demo'ing for marshall.. at the manchester show this year they put on a great show, there was a bassist and a drummer also... the drummer was insane, he ran around the room drumming on people's hats and tabletops etc..

Re: Cool Marshall amps demonstration

Haha he covers Lost Prophets stuff in there.. cool. I've never seen him do that. I covered that song in a talent show last year \m/

Do you know anything about the cd he put out? They say "remember to buy his cd" in the clip, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Hey thanks for the link. That was cool.

I think the AVT275 sounded surprisingly good.

Ive listened to about half of it so far and, is it me, or does that lil avt amp just blow the doors off of its tube brethren in tone? Maybe its the Hendrix?

I own an AVT50 and am having a hard time believing anything with the letters A V and T, all in a row, in that order, with any combination of numbers after it, will blow the doors off of anything, other than me destroying the Piece of sh!t amp that the AVT is.

Now I have to watch this video. :laugh2:

It does, it sounds EXCELLENT actually, try listening to this mp3 from Marshall's site:

This is recorded with the AVT275 combo. Damn, makes me want one ;-)

I know that clips, that's just Geoff Whitehorn who is a monster player and could make anything sound good. You can still hear the awfull buzzsaw sound of that amp and it's not smooth at all. I used to think it was a good clip too until I compared it to real tube amp. It still has the same buzzy lack of character that solid state amps have.

Re: Cool Marshall amps demonstration

Well, maybe it's just my untrained ear that think's it sounds good then ;-)

It's just the horrible clipping of the amp. One of the main reasons tube amps are desirable is because they are much smoother under gain. If you listen to enough amps and then go back and listen to the AVT clip you'll know what I mean. But then again, if you're used to hearing SS amps all of the time, it's going to sound good to you.

WTF...why does every marshall i plug into sound like poop to me but he makes them sound killer...go figure lol.

To each his own i guess, whatever.

The clip sounds pretty darned good to me. I just hear a nice smooth distortion, what you describe reminds me more of the MG series which imo are really nasty (not in a good way)

to noone in particular:

Ive owned tube amps and ive owned solid state amps and ive also sized different amps up side by side recently and i know what sounds good to me, and to me the AVT sounded better than the amps he played before it. Ive played AVT amps in the past and have always liked them though never owned one. Im not a marshall pimp in general, far from it, I generally prefer everything but.
