i was thinking of wiring up a h/s/s, jb/cr/cr,( have pickups left over from other projects) in a pretty warm strat, thinking of using 500 k pots for volume&tone pots, anyone use 500 k pots with cool rails?

I do. It's my least bright pickup out of everything I use. I wouldn't try it with a 250K pot in a basswood guitar myself.
However the pickup KICKS ASS.
i had the cool rails in the guitar before with 250 k pots and i felt the neck was to dark, i think i will give the 500 k pots a try with a 3 way switch instead of 5 way also
