Cool rails

Looking to buy a Cool Rails pickup for my strat and want to put it in neck position to replace stock single coil. I just bought Hot Rails which I'm putting in bridge position. Question I have... Do I have to buy the Cool Rails SCR-1n for neck position? Are they actually sold for neck or bridge? Thx. Herm

Yes, Cool rails and hot rails have distinct neck and bridge versions. Get the version that you need. If you are putting a bridge position Hot rail in the bridge and a neck/middle position cool rail in the neck, you should check out a vintage rail for the middle.

Hey Odie, how does the Vintage rail sound in the middle? I have a neck Cool Rail at the neck, a bridge Cool Rail in the mid and a bridge Hot Rail at the the bridge right now. I think the Hot Rail is a little bit too hot and I'm thinking about putting the bridge Cool Rail at the bridge and something else in the mid.

The vintage rail in the middle will pretty much make positions 2 and 4 more stratty becasue, it will add some quack to the sound. Other than that, I never use the middle pickup for anything myself.

Thanks for the info. I have lots of quack from the bridge Cool Rail in the mid also. May be I should just leave it and use position 3 with the Cool Rail for lead and use the Hot Rail only when I really need the hot sound..
