Corroded Trembucker

Hi,

I just bought a second hand Vigier through gumtree (and PayPal proper), had it sent to me and it had a number of problems. It was dead out of the box...turned out somebody had played with the wiring and one lug of the volume pot was shorting on the 5-way switch. Anyhow, apart from corrosion under the scratchplate, I noticed the volume of the bridge pickup was quieter than all of the other positions. When I raised it...I saw this...I've never seen anything like it!

The pickups are:

Also, the tone works in the opposite direction to the volume....so someone has definitely frigged with the electronics.

I've emailed the seller...I'd like some money "adjustment"...I don't want to return the guitar....I love the neck on the Vigier...but I did state on my paypal payment that the guitar was "in perfect working condition!

I see it needing a new input jack, new volume pot, new bridge pickup and some wiring...

Any ideas what kind of money back I should be looking for?

Thanks,
Andy

About $100 even (including the "pain in the ass charge").

Re: Corroded Trembucker

I assume Trembuckers don't normally sound really weak and thin?

Trembucker just means its 53mm fender spacing instead of 50mm gibson spacing. The one u have is a duncan custom, which is a pretty hot, ballsy pickup. Id even just try rewiring everything before u drop $80 on a new one, pickups arent that easily broken

Re: Corroded Trembucker

Thanks - alternatively I have an old Suhr SSH+ somewhere. But I'd rather keep the guitar the way it was meant to be...

Re: Corroded Trembucker

Ahh ... forgot to mention.

Get a completely new wiring harness and dump the old one.

Yeah....to be fair I still have the hassle...if I took it to a shop and asked for a new trembucker, pots and re-wire I imagine I'd be closer to £150....
