Hi Guys...
I have a Cort Bass thats actually pretty nice. But the low "E" string seem's to not actually have that "jack casady" whoomph to it...the Bass seems to sound really good....but I can't seem to get any REALLY good lows out of it...I have about 6 other (6 string) guitars and a drum kit and a 24 track studio and so forth and so on.......the question is....do I need a new BASS??? OR new pick -ups for the bass that I have???? I want that "Crown Of Creation " thing ...............thanks......PZ

Re: Cort Bass....

Which model do you have?

The Gibson EB tone was all about the big humbucker up at the base of the neck. I think there was also a fair amount of tube overdrive present in his tone. Depending on what model you have you may be able to go 100% neck pickup through some type of tube overdrive (Sansamp BAss DI) and get close.

Re: Cort Bass....

Its an "Action Bass" with a Jazz bass PU by the bridge and a P bass split by the neck.It just doesen't seem to have any SLAM from the low E string. And I don't know if it's the Guitar,or the PUP's.Its' a nice Basswood body with a rock maple neck. But I can just never seem to get any WHOMP outta the E string.....

Re: Cort Bass....

Okay, so you have 6 guitars and a drum kit, and a recording studio, and you ask if you should keep playing a Cort? you need at least a Fender or Ibanez, just for the look of the thing.

Re: Cort Bass....

Well I was just wondering if a PU change would help.Just because I have all that OTHER stuff doesn't make it any easyer to weasel MORE gear cash outta my wife!!!!
