Could this be the amp?

Let me explain my current situation:

I got an amp right now that I bought off some guy in a flea market for $5. It's 20 watts, but the cleans are horrible. Everything sounds distorted, especially now that I got my Duncan Invader. I had a DOD Grunge, and it was okay. Now I went to a MT-2. Now you might be asking me, jeez A Skater. You're dumb for not buying a normal amp first. I DID have a normal, nice 10 watt amp that my friend gave me, but I passed it on to a newbie. Now that I acquired that distorted amp, I blew it up recently. I cranked it all the way, I used 2 ABY pedals, and hooked up 4 guitars to it(long story, but it can take 2 guitars without any ABY pedals). When my friends and I started just messing around with the distortion, boom. It gets on fire. Now, the amp is dead.

I started playing guitar without my parents permission or approval. Here's the amps that have been narrowed.(Keep in mind I got $300, no job, crappy weather)

Behringer V Tone GMX 212
Vox AD50VT
Roland Cube 60

I'd vote for the vox too, but you got to try them all and see what you like. A modelling amp might not survive your experimenting, though. How bout going back to the fleamarket and looking for another deal?

So, which one sounds best tone wise? Like for pop punk/metal and good for leads. Not to mention bluesy cleans, sorta like that bell ringing kind of cleans....Something that can give tone experts an orgasm. :newangel:

I forgot to mention, I just bought a skateboard which is becoming an addiction($150 every month and a half?)

Re: Could this be the amp?

Vox's do sound great (the tube DOES make a difference), but I've experienced/seen a few more reliability issues than I'd prefer, to consider recommending them (2 new amps that died, and another new one that is starting to get squirrelly). Seems to be fairly common of you go read the reviews over on Harmony Central :(

The Behringers sound great too (analog modeling on the GMX), but I've not owned one.

Is the Roland digital?

If you're a Skater and Punk Rocker, a tube amp is the way to go. I'd say a used Fender Bassman or Fender Prosonic with a full stack. Go balls to the wall or go home.

Actually I have no clue what would be your ideal amp. I recommend going to as many shops as you can and play as many amps as you can and find the one you like.

I see you would like relatively high wattage amp. Let me say you something you probabely won't believe but that's a lot of power. For playing in your bedroom from 5 to 10 watt it is recomended. For a gig 20-40watts. If you buy a solid state amp with 50-60 watts you will never be able to use it at full volume unless you want you ears to bleed. And for that price you won't get any quality.

With 300$ you can buy the Trademark 10 (10 watts). That is the highest quality amp you can buy from solid state and has a lot great fetures apart from a grat tone: 27 moddeling amps, XLR output to plug it to a mixing board, you can disconect it from the internal speaker and drive a cabinet... And in a review i have read said that has enought volume to be used it as a stage speaker to monitor your guitar. And volume it is enought to play with a band...

You can buy a bad amp amp and you won't be satisfied with the tone and with a lot of powe you won't use or buy a good one that will last forever.

There are some clips somewhere in the Harmony-central web page... Just search the web.
