Which Duncans share the same coils but different mags? I know about the "Custom" series(CC,C5) magnet differences but any others? I've been lurking on and off and recently became a member.Just wanna know the facts.

The coils are the same. But their tones are worlds apart!

JB has a5 magnet, Duncan Distortion has a big and strong ceramic magnet. And the Invader has 3 ceramic magnets (if I recall correctly, the bar magnet in the Invader is a regular one, not like the one in DD, but I might be wrong, that is am not too sure) and those funky studs.

i wonder about the stag mag and JB too.

>both are designated 'bridge' pickups
>both list a DC resistance of 16+K
>the difference on the listed resonant peak frequencies aren't wildly different, and could be explained by the different magnetic and bobbin structure
>the stag mag is SH-3 and the JB is SH-4, with the JAZZ potentially being an obvious neck option at SH-2
>in several other threads in the lounge and the vault, they're both said to be hit or miss in the bridge and loved in the neck
>if the SH numbers have any chronological meaning, the '59, jazz, stag mag and JB would all have been being developed before a lot of other pickups

:deal:

i dont think the stagmag and jb use the same wire

Custom, Custom 5, Custom Custom, and I am fairly certain the Full shred also.

I am sure a handful of the neck buckers are jazz variants. Most likely, the Invader neck, full shred neck, etc.
