Couple of Crybaby wah questions

Alright, I've never had a separate wah pedal before, only the one I have at the moment on my Zoom multi effects processor. So I was thinking of getting a Crybaby wah pedal, but I've got a few questions about it. They are probably simple questions for someone who has one of these pedals but I've never used one so I'm not sure about a few things.

First of all, does the pedal give you a boost for playing solos as well as the wah sound? And secondly, and this is REALLY stupid, but with my Zoom pedal, to stop using the wah you simply change to another patch. But with the Crybaby how do you stop using it, I mean how do you turn off the wah effect? Stupid questions I know but I'd like to know the answers before I buy one of these.

A regular wah pedal doesn't include a volume boost - it just changes your tone, though that in itself boosts and cuts certain frequencies depending on the position of the treddle.

Wah pedals like the Crybaby have a footswitch under the front of the treddle. You push the treddle hard to the front to switch the wah circuit on or off, and rock the treddle back and forth to use the effect.

Try a few different models of wah before buying one, as they do vary quite a lot. The Vox V848 Clyde McCoy and the Budda Bud Wah are two others you might like to consider that don't cost a lot more than a Crybaby.

i just got a dunlop dime crybaby from hell. it's the most versital wah i've ever had, i love it. it has a button on the side to engage a volume boost and a knob to adjust it from 0 to 17db. it also has a fine tuner for the wah range and a "q" control for different types of wah sweeps. if you get a chance to try one, i would highly recomend it. also to answer your other question, to engage it you step on it to the forward possition and it clicks a botton on and the same to click it off.

you could also check out the 535Q crybaby. It also has a volume boost as well as tone control.

Alright guys thanks for those suggestions. The crybaby from hell and the 535Q both seem like good choices, but what about the 95Q? Has anyone any experience with that?

And one more thing. Do these other crybaby pedals have as good a wah tone as the original?

I have the GCB 95 and it's good. Whats the "Q" for?? anyway, I would recomend a 95, althoguht I haven't tried out many other Wahs, also, if you want more of a "range" in the frequencies (more difference between up or down) try the Jimi Hendrix one (so I've heard).

the crybaby from hell has an awesome tone thanks to the italian "fasel" inductor that came in the old original crybabies, so imo it's like havin a whole array of the cry baby series with all the stuff you can dial in on it.

i'm just gonna write the "features" from the owners manual for ya.
variable Q
the q adjustment knob is located on the left side of the pedal and is the center adjustment knob. this control allows you to adjust the shape of the filter peak. high q, rotated to the clock-wise stop, produces a very large and selective filter peak. low q, rotated to the counter clock-wise stop, is a very subtle and broad filter peak. lower q settings have a more musical quality, less vocal effect, and produce less output level than the high q settings.
fine tune
the fine tune adjustment knob is located on the left side of the pedal closest to the output jack. rotating this knob clockwise extends the high end of the sweep range, making the toe down position brighter as opposed to a darker sound when rotated counter clock-wise.

then it also has the volume control that can be set from 0 to 17 db boost and a little switch that is used to turn it on or off. it also has the 6 position q knob like on the 535(i think the 535 only has a 5 position knob) but with more versitility because of the fine tune and q adjustment knobs that i listed. it also features switchable output jacks so you can run from either side of the pedal. it has dual indicator lights at the tail of the housing and an adjustable rocker torque key. one of my favorite features, which is standard is the grip tape on the foot portion of the pedal. it keeps your foot from sliding anywhere when you are usin it. hope this helps.
