I seemingly live in the Projects zone. Many of my guitars are in a state of disrepair.
Well, instead of posting a bunch of junk on OT, I am trying to channel my energies this New Year.
You know me, I pride myself on tone, and I cannot suffer bad tone. Trust me, I am not wealthy, quite the contrary, and its a hardship to spend money ot make my guitars perform 100%, but nothing else but the best will do because I am a gifted tone affiiciando ( and I hope you can spell that word becasue I cannot) and eclectic' tone shaper'.
All my instruments have to perform at a premium level, with level frets, and premium hardware.
No replies necessary, as I peruse lots of you guys threads , but do not comment.
Okay, first up is my beloved Zakk Wylde Les Paul. These Old 'Wyldes' retailed for 799,00 back when they first came out. Back then they were made in Korea, with painted Graphics and a huge fat heavy Mahogany body .
Well, now the Zakk Wylde Epiphone made in Indochina is a joke.... lightweight junk wood , a photo Bullseye..just junk. Grab and old Korean Epi Zakk Wylde if you can!!
Okay, I leveled the frets on my Zakk Wylde Epi, then I installed a set of Zakk Wylde pickups. Now I have completed it because I got rid of the tone sucking horrible zinc bridge and tail piece
I found an old massive brass Dimarz. stop tail, and tonight i put on the brass Wilkinson bridge. This thing , for a "cheap" Paul, smokes with a JCM800 or even a broad sounding high gain amp like Recto or 6505

I might try and polish up the old Stop Tail with a Dremel and some grit. This bridge is great for palm muting- the cheap one sucked.
OKAY..NEXT UP;
Some of you guys may know how much i hate Basswood.
Just a personal preference,no offence to anyone. Plus I was after an older Guitar , since I feel age adds tone( after all., I am a tone connesseur)
So went on the gander for a old Jackson body that wasn't Basswood. from the 90's. Heres where you may be able to profit from my research.
Besides one early Mahogany Jackson- ALL the old early 90's Jacksons were Basswood.
So what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a budget Jackson Concept body form 93-94.
It was 100% Poplar (MUCH superior to Basswood, but a "Poormans Alder IMO). The ONLY Jackson Poplar early production body!!!!!!They should be around if you look!
Well, as you know, my tone is supreme, so I am loading this baby with an very ealry 70's Superd, in the bridge, a dummy middle with a 3 way switch and an old PAF Pro in the neck , also double cream!
This thing is is gonna flat out blow anything new away ( i know there is a balance between old stuff and qaulity new stuff), but I can stake my reputation-err, I can assure it !
Check out this Old Dinky XL Professiona MIJ Neck..IF you see one like this ..TROUNCE on it!!!!!!!
