Re: Cover of "So What"
alright man, your tone's really good!
Here's a few suggestions:
1. I agree with what most have said about tempo. If you don't have backing tracks you definitely need to hit up a metronome, you can use one with a click in an ear bud if you don't want it coming through the recording. Also, dig on some of those Abersold album/books, it'll give you a good work-out, you won't have to make your own tracks, and you can focus on your time and soloing.
2. The bass part that you were simulating sounded good, but you're missing a note, it's hard to explain unless I had sheet music in front of me to show you, but go back and listen to it. There's an "and of 4" you're missing every time. I went back to listen to it to make sure I'm right, it was hard to hear cause I'm on laptop spearkers at the moment, but it's there.
This is probably the most lude/vile way I've ever tried to explain rhythm but here's what I hear.
&1&2&3&4&...."so what"
&1&2&3&4.... "so what"
&1&2&3&4&... "so what"
&34 1&
dunno if this explains a thing, but if you get the Abersold books you should see it there.
Take care and keep playin man!
