Cover vs no cover pickup - noise comparison

Hi!
I read that pickup cover reduce a little high end.
But cover is a shield pickup, so pickup with cover has less noise?

Apparently different materials effect tone differently. Pure nickel supposedly doesn't change the tone at all. Gold, silver and nickel alloys changes the tone, and can reduce the high end. Some say.

The cover can *maybe* reduce 60 cycle hum but uncovered pick ups can also get more electrical interference.
