Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

I don't really know why, but I prefer uncovered humbuckers. I guess I like to look at all the different parts that you can see without a cover. If I was going for an ultra-vintage look, I'd definitely go covered, though.

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

Covered.. I just love that shiny cool look... just gives your axe that little bit of extra class.

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

Generally favor covered, but depending on the guitar, uncovered can be cool. But if it is uncovered, it MUST be a zebra. I don't care for the look of double-black or double-cream.

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

Honestly it depends on the axe.

I think I'll never uncover the buckers of my wine red LP, eventhough the golden finish is quite faded now on the bridge pup.
But on the other hand, there is no way I'm gonna put covers on the pups of my yellowish birdseyes LP.
I guess it's because this finish doesn't look really neat, but a little bit wild :p, unleashed...

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

uncovered, because I love the way the zebras look.

I hate the look of most double creams because they say DiMarzzio on them, and that just gets me @#^#%^$%&!!!!! Stupid trademark. The modified ones of other companies look good in certain applications.

o sh!t i voted for the wrong thing :smack:
voted for covered
wanted to pick uncovered........

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

didn't vote , if the guitar is like a strat = no cover , if it's a les paul type of guitar = cover

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

Well, I only have LP's so, I like them with covers for the ''classic look''. I used to have the coverless pups on my LP's but just recently changed them to the SD classic covered ones (same models). Don't get me wrong, I love the coverless humbuckers but...you know...I'm getting old and kinda going back to the old ''vintage'' look :) Plus, the covered ones are juuuust a tad smoother to my ears.

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

Seems like this poll is quite balanced... 11:11 at this time...
come on people... vote "Covered humbucker"!

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

I like covered pickups for the most part. I think it's a must on nicer guitars, like my LP's and Hardtail....anything that's classic or vintage looking. I only like the look of uncovored pups if they are double cream or zebra.

Covered pups don't look right on superstrats or regular strats, and those are the only applications in which I don't use covers. I'm a traditionalist.

Re: Covered or uncovered humbuckers?

I like the classic look of covered humbuckers, especially the tarnish and green gunk on my Antiquity humbuckers.
