I see per the product description page for the SD Blackout Coil Pack pickups that they don't come in covers - just open bobbin design.

I'm thinking about getting one of these coil pack pickups (the neck position) but would want to install a black cover - preferably plastic. Is anyone familiar with the dimensions of the neck pickup enough to say whether a plastic cover would fit - and which brand /model(s) of cover fit?

Thanks

Where are you going to get a black plastic cover? The only plastic covers I've ever seen were made by Schaller.

If the pickup dimensions are fairly standard than any cover should fit.

But why not get one of the Blackouts without exposed coils?

It's a standard set of SD bobbins.

But again I want to point out you are going around this backwards.

The Coil Pack was designed to look like a vintage, non active pickup. So it's a regular pickup with an external preamp. I used to make bass pickups like that.

You want to make it look like a regular Blackout. So why not just get one of those? It's the same pickup but with a different cover and the preamp is inside the pickup housing.

I already own a Blackouts modular preamp that is not being utilized at the moment, so I was exploring my options.
