Crap!!!: Installing Pickups, Quick Question

Ok, got a duncan custom(4 conductor) and a SH1-59(single conductor???) So I get the custom in the bridge, perfect, after long toiling(first time ever soldering or opening the back cavity). So I wire it up according to this schematic:

http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/2hb_1vol_1tone_3way.html

Then I put in the 59, pull back the shielding and whamo, realize there is just one wire sticking out of it and I have no idea how to continue?!!?!?!

Please help!!

I dont understand. That schematic involves two single conductor pickups and I have , I think, one 4 conductor and one single. Ohh god, I thought I was almost done.

Im assuming I can't connect the 59's wire to the available lug on the three way selector and then ground the casing.....

Correct. I meant, use just the one as an example of the way an outershield is used as a ground wire. :)

You can, and you must. ;) You may need to extend the center a bit. It is difficult to deal with a co-axial cable. Try to get enough of the center conductor out so that you can connect it to the switch, then solder the shield to ground. You may want to extend it also.

Wow, so sorry for my stupidity....what exactly do you mean my "extend it"

Re: Crap!!!: Installing Pickups, Quick Question

Sometimes it easier to solder a short length of wire to the shield and run it to where you need, rather than trying to get enough of the inner core out.

Re: Crap!!!: Installing Pickups, Quick Question

No prob. I keep meaning to post a little tutorial on dealing with co-axial pickup leads. Maybe . . . soon. ;)
