Crashing problem LAConvolver & Logic Express (Mac)

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help me out with this.

The case:
I want to record with LePou's amp sims and LAConvolver. I have my track armed for recording and record a clip. Then I change to another track I want to record with and press the record button off in the previous track.

Suddenly everything clips, Logic crashes, effin' loud screeching noises come out from the monitors and that's it. I know that the reason is LAConvolver and pressing the 'armed for recording' button because Logic never crashes in my system with anything else I'm doing even if I had 30 tracks going on. With Reaper it never does this.

I'm running Macbook Pro 2011 13.3'' (the basic version). Mac OSX 10.6.8.

EDIT: Tested it few times again. When changing track the output goes crazy and it crashes.

Going by memory since it's been awhile - I think I had problems with LAConvolver in express too. I think I got around it by using SonicBirth's free convolution reverb plugin:

http://sonicbirth.sourceforge.net/index.shtml

I think you need to install the package of plugins which has the reverb one in it.

Thanks guys! I'll check out that new software :)

EDIT: SonicBirth is good but has a huge latency :(

Rats. Might need to piggy back on another amp sim's speaker emu (revalver Hp, amplitude, etc.) if possible. A less satisfying option could be recording clean and process after the fact - kinda hard to capture the feel that way though.

Yeah, I might upgrade my Guitar Rig 4 LE to GR5 (for 90€). It has an impulse loader.... I use the TS from the GR4 LE anyway.

Damn, the sound from the amp sims with IRs are so much better than from any POD etc. Let's not mention the almighty Axe fx... ;)

EDIT: POD HD with impulses is superb too. I meant that the stock cab sims are just very poor.

I was running devices like the POD etc. through Amplitube patches. Just dial up a patch on both then turn off the amp in Amplitube. You have to try different combinations but you can get good useable tones.

I've gotten good results also with the wet POD signal only going through amplitube's cab IR. It's an OK method but these big amp plug-ins are just so CPU hungry... :)
